Music Teacher's Helper Blog

Hi everyone!

It’s Rock again with your weekly software announcements. We at Music Teacher’s Helper know you have the music inside of you — if you need an uplifting musical reminder of that, listen to this.

This week’s quote is…

“Nothing connects to the moment like music. I count on music to bring me back, or more precisely, to bring truth forward.”

Dau Voire (Author)

Here are the software announcements for this week…

  • In the Live (prior) version of Music Teacher’s Helper, the “Transaction Log” option (under the Billing icon) has been replaced with “Billing History” to streamline that area
  • An issue where teachers websites were not displayed has been resolved

Did you know that you can create Rates to help you consolidate your student billing in the New Version of Music Teacher’s Helper?

Rates are what you use to set the base billing for your most common billing scenarios.

For example, if you teach piano and voice, you can create these rates…

Rates:

  • Piano students
  • Voice students

And then you can set how you want to charge for those rates (per lesson, per week, per month, per semester, etc.)

If you ever have time when you need to adjust your billing, you’d only have to adjust 2 rates that would apply to ALL your students’ billing going forward — which is a real time saver.

Find out more about Rates and different billing scenarios in our latest walkthrough knowledgebase article here.

Hi everyone!

It’s Rock with your weekly software announcements. We here at Music Teacher’s helper hope all is well with you and your students.

This week’s quote is…

“I would say that music is the easiest means in which to express, but since words are my talent, I must try to express clumsily in words what the pure music would have done better.” – William Faulkner

Here are the software announcements for this week…

For teachers using our prior version of Music Teacher’s Helper, many teachers are still experiencing inaccuracies with the transaction log summary page showing incorrect amounts, while the transaction log details for a student/family is correct.

Our programming team is aware of this issue and is working diligently to resolve it. This should not affect your ability to invoice your students and receive payments. At this time we advise teachers that are experiencing this, do not try to manually adjust the family/student balances as once this issue is resolved, the incorrect transaction log balances will likely go back to being correct. If you’re still experiencing these issues, please reach out to our support team.

This week we have this improvement to report…

  • Our programming team continues to optimize the New Version of Music Teacher’s Helper for speed

Did you know that you can track students that are Leads, or on your Waiting List right from within the New Version of Music Teacher’s Helper?

Now there’s no need for extra lists of students (and all their info) outside of Music Teacher’s Helper. Enter in all your prospective Leads, and Waiting List student just like any other student in MTH. And because these are not Active students, they don’t count against your billable student count.

And if you’d like to send a message to either of these groups (for example, if you have summer openings and/or summer pricing specials to offer) simply do this…

  • Click on your Students Menu Icon on the left side menu
  • Select the Leads or Wait List button at the top right
  • Select all or some of this student list
  • Click the Send Email button
  • Choose who will receive your email (Student, Billing Contact, Lesson Contact, or All contacts)
  • Compose your email normally
  • Click the Send button

To find out about this setting, go the How to Track Leads knowledgebase article.

This week we have a few issues to report that have been fixed…

  • An issue where the Families Owing report was showing incorrect amounts due has been resolved
  • Another issue where the transaction log was showing large credits has been resolved

Did you know that, when creating invoices, you can turn off the “Show previous balance and date range” option?

If you’re having an issue where a student or family’s balance due is off, but you still need to send an invoice for the most recent lessons amount only, you use the Custom invoice template, and uncheck “Show previous balance and date range”.

Here’s how to do that..

  • Click on the Billing icon in the left side menu
  • Click on Invoicing option, and choose Create Invoice(s) on the side menu
  • In the Invoice For (Select “Custom” for advanced options) pulldown, choose Custom
  • Fill out the remaining details of your invoice (Dates, Family, etc)
  • Uncheck the “Show previous balance and date range
  • Finally, click the green Preview button at the bottom right to see a preview of the invoice

To find out about this setting and more, go the Explanation of the Custom Invoice Options knowledgebase article.
